Compelling true story of "The Worsley Hotel" fire, Maida Vale, London, UK 1974 - 8 fatalities

Neil Wallington was the Chief Fire Officer of the former Devon Fire & Rescue Service, today amalgamated with Somerset, currently named Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service. Cornwall County Fire Service, today known as Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service has always been a stand alone Fire Service, never having been amalgamated with Devon. The book "Red Watch" by Gordon Honeycombe, a former ITN news reader, is an excellent read. It's the compelling story of a very serious hotel fire at "The Worsley Hotel", Maida Vale, London in 1974, in which 7 persons & 1 Fire fighter were killed. The fire was caused deliberately. Neil Wallington was, at the time of the fire, a Station Officer, officer-in-charge of Red Watch, Station A21 Paddington, London Fire Brigade. He was the initial officer-in-charge/incident commander of the first 6 attending fire appliances, forming the pre-determined attendance/emergency response standard.

This book is a True story About Red Watch Based in Paddington Fire Station London in the late 1960's. Fire Fighter Hamish Harry Petit Lost his life when the building collapsed after attending a fire in Maida Vale and tells the story about the event's leading upto and after the fire.
The Station officer Neil Wallington went on to become cheif Fire officer of Devon and Cornwall Fire Brigade and also an accomplished author writing books about the Fire and Rescue services in the UK.
You want a good read well this the book to buy.
