I heard about the CD's which appeared on Oprah's List of Good Things for some year in the past. I now see that the CD's are also a book. If the book is a good as the CD's, which it must be, I think the author's ideas and methods about making your relationship with your significant other work well are WONDERFUL!

There is a CD series and book, LIGHT HER FIRE and a CD series and book LITE HIS FIRE. You need both! She is GOOD! And, either the book or the CD's are a bargain---just think how much a marriage counsellor or, worse yet, a divorce costs!

Yes, the man uses big words, such an elitist!!
Sorry, weak excuse...no reason to pan or pass by the book.
Only for the curious and poeticly pragmatic:

"Hearsaids, beliefs, axioms,
Superstitions, guesses, opinions
Were and are
All excluded.
As answer resources
For playing my particular
Intellectual development game.

Fuller's about asking real questions and getting real answers
based on one's own personal experience, direct experience.
Otherwise, any concept, belief, dogma, narrative, assumption,
beliefs, or wishes you have may very "become meaningless".

Zen is similar it seems. Fuller is leaving us koans we can't just
gulp down like happy consumers with an endless unfillable black hole
in ourselves to feed. Those kinds of "answers" don't work. Ain't true.

So,if your a Fuller fan, this is nothing new. If not, jump in, bite off
a sentence at a time, let it work on you, let a man still way ahead of
the curve, who saw where we are going and how to get there...who saw that
the sun doesn't rise, or set. The Earth moves, spins. Take this book out

The first is the specification of the behaviour of a telephone exchange, and the second illustrates the importance of the development of a mathematical theory in gaining an understanding of a system. Both case studies stress the roles of modelling and of proof in the construction of specifications. The final part describes the algebraic approach to specification and then summarizes and compares the various formal techniques.

The Kindle Edition is badly formatted, with missing symbols (replaced by 'iconid="xx"'), ASCII replacements for logic symbols (V and /\ for OR and AND, which looks really bad in a serif font') and formulae which look like scanned images from the book (sometimes the wrong images).

BRILLIANT !!!!

I LOVE this book!!!! ( both the Kindle version and the hardback)

I now have my hardbound copy ( see original review below). This is even more wonderful than I expected. The book is approx 12" h x 11" w ( in case anyone cares). There are paintings on the actual book cover (underneath the dust cover), front and back, so don't miss them. The Kindle version only shows the dustcover front painting. The photos of the paintings are luscious and large!! Of course, Richard McKinley's text is wonderful- so well written, informative, and fascinating. What I wrote below goes for this version too.

I ordered the paper version (originally due out in May) when I first learned about it and then couldn’t wait that long so I ordered the e-version the first day it came out and am so happy I did. Extravagant, but I’m soooooo pleased.

The info contained comprises some of McKinley’s own history and very much of his philosophy of painting and his approach to painting (with the focus on pastels and oils). He has given much of the same information in his workshops and other conversations (including some anecdotes), and also a good deal of it is covered in his earlier book, his blog, and in his videos. What is lovely about this book is how this all flows together beautifully and although it is instructional, it doesn't feel that way (to me at least). It refreshes older information wonderfully and presents exciting new concepts. He is such an enthusiastic and articulate writer , it always is a pure pleasure to read what he has written.

I love the dedication - it is to all of us, his students - so very Richard. ( And Richard- if you ever see this- thank you for all you have given so many of us.)

The paintings are fabulous! I found myself gasping at some of them. Some I've seen in his blogs, on his website, or in his slide presentations at workshops, but it is lovely to have them right at hand and not to have them either only in my memory or have to go hunting them down elsewhere to enjoy them again. Having an e-book version (Kindlefire HD 7) is great. I can zoom in for decent quality closeups and highlight or note some of the text without actually marking up the book. I can also view this book on my computer with the free Kindle app but my zoom ability seems limited by the size of my computer screen. The photos are well sized, but I am greedy enough to want to see them even larger on the computer. I’m very pleased with the e-version , but I can hardly wait to get my paper copy to actually turn the pages and hold in my hand.

If you are a Richard fan, and aren't currently waiting for the paper version to come out next month, you may want to get this- or check it if you know someone else who does have it already.

Obviously, I REALLY like this book! For me, at least, it is a gem of the highest quality. Exquisite.

Outstanding overview for restoration

I am currently restoring a 66 FB, and found your book very helpful by providing an outstanding summary of items to be considered during restoration. Great value for the price. It covers many of the components and how to work them. However, additional information needs to be found from other sources for more specific detail. Examples are specifications, bolt torques, etc.
In summary, it's great, but not a standalone book.

Love's Masquerade

This is a very charming Regency about Lady Hetta Stanton. She is unfashionably drab when she arrives in London for her Season but with the help of her guardian, Lady Beatrice Pelborn, she is transformed from a moth to a butterfly. Three determined gentlemen vie for her hand-- The Earl of Davenchester, so proper in public, but so scandalous in private; Sir Rupert Sikes, whose infamous reputation is matched by his charm; and Jonathan Markham, who demands that she go back home where he thinks she belongs, as his bride. The outcome of the three possible marriages is not predictable and is very well done.

Good Story, with a few Problems ***3 1/2 Stars***

Overall "Love's Masquerade" was an enjoyable read for me. It is really well written with well drawn characters. Furthermore, the plot, while not original, is still interesting and kept me engaged from start to finish. However, I did have a few issues with the book.

The heroine, Miss Hetta Stanton, is the 21 year old, orphaned daughter of a Viscount...there are apparently no other Stanton men to inherit the title, thus Hetta has inherited her father's property. Enter her maternal cousin, Jonathan, who, for reasons unknown, is determined to marry Hetta. He is so determined, as a matter of fact, that nothing Hetta says to the contrary, will sway him from his purpose. Hetta is rescued from the uncomfortable presence of Jonathan, when her godmother, who is also her legal guardian, invites her to London for a season. Hetta happily departs her beloved country estate for the delights of London.

On the way to London, she encounters some difficulties and the hero, Michael Anthony, comes to her rescue. The rest of the story that follows is a relatively typical Regency set romance.

Hetta is quite the naive young miss, in so many ways. It is never made known exactly when her mother died, but one gets the impression that it was when Hetta was fairly young, because she has no idea about the rules and restrictions of society. As a result, Hetta does make a few social blunders, and it's only due to her godmother's influence, as well as Lord Anthony's, that Hetta survives her first season without totally ruining her reputation (silly things like dancing four times with the same gentleman...at Almacks no less! The shock of it all! LOL)

In any event, Lord Anthony (really he should be Lord Davenchester because that is his title! Why, why, why, do authors keep getting forms of address incorrect????!) is a bit of a tease; he is constantly tormenting Hetta with his somewhat sharp tongue. Add to that, the fact that the reader gets very little insight from Michael, and it left one wondering at times what he was really thinking. He didn't act very lover-like, for the most part...though he was protective.

Most of the scenes between Michael and Hetta encompass them arguing, usually because he would taunt her about something and make her angry. We did hear about moments when he was sweet to her, but for the most part we, the readers, hear about those moments, rather than reading them for ourselves. In that respect, the romance aspect of the story is a bit disappointing.

Additionally, at times, Hetta's naivety extends almost to the point of stupidity. For instance, she is warned about Sir Robert, Michael's cousin, by several people, including her godmother. But, through sheer stubbornness, Hetta decides that she is capable of making her own decisions about who she associates with. When Hetta is finally made privy to a few of the rumors about Sir Robert, she thinks that of course he can't be as bad as everyone makes him out to be...not such a distinguished and handsome gentleman. There were a few times when I wanted to shake Hetta until her teeth rattled, she irritated me that much.

Despite her sometimes idiotic conduct, I really liked Hetta. She is very spirited, stubborn, (sometimes overly so) and strong willed, but she is also kind, and thoughtful.

The other thing I didn't really like about the book is the fact that, in the beginning of the story we are given way too much detail, about everything; every minute movement of each character in a scene; detailed description of the surroundings; and so on and so forth. After a while it became redundant; I mean the first 40% of the book encompasses details relating to a 24 hour period...from the time Hetta receives her godmother's invitation through her first day in London. After a while I began to wonder if we'd ever get to the "meat" of the story.

In spite of these drawbacks, I did enjoy this book. Regency set romance novels is my favorite genre to read, so it takes a lot for me to categorize one as being "bad." I would have loved more insight from Michael, and more "sweet moments" between him and Hetta, but for the most part, this is a good read.

Another Wonderful Regency

Yet another wonderful regency from Gayle Buck. This one literally moved me during the final confrontation between the hero and the villain. I do wish the irredeemable rake of the story would be redeemed one day because I liked him for a few moments but alas, the Hero prevails in this case and deservedly so. I wish there had been just a little bit more interaction between the Hero and heroine. Too much of their conversation was underhanded and ill-tempered especially on the Hero's part. I much prefer to actually read scenes in person than to have them talked about between characters or even thought about by a principle. Other than that no complaints. Unlike other regencies I had no problem with this subplot. It was very well done. All the characters were well-written as well although sometimes it was hard to fathom why certain characters behaved in certain ways before things are finally expressed to the heroine, which of course only underscores said behavior in the long run. A very satisfying read. Highly recommended for all Regency Romance lovers.
